Meet Ranger!

Ranger is an energetic happy 2 to 3 year old 120 lb absolutely beautiful male fawn Dane.

Ranger needs a Dane savvy adopter who is willing to work on boundaries with him.

Ranger has EXTREME separation anxiety, he barks and paces the entire time his humans leave (monitored by cameras). When another dog is in household he is significantly more calm. For this reason Ranger MUST have another dog in the household so he doesn’t feel alone!

Ranger gets along good with other dogs of all sizes, but MUST be properly introduced!!! Ranger does not like cats, bicycles, motorcycles or golf carts!

Ranger tends to be overly protective of his “people." He is not a Dane that you can take with you to dinner or to the brewery or for a night out on the town. In time we believe he has the potential to be that with proper guidance from an experienced owner and/or proper training but this takes time and repetition.

Foster dad reports "Ranger is the smartest dog I’ve ever fostered...... Smart, quick learner, & very obedient. He loves attention and kisses!" Ranger knows sit, shake and no. He also knows “come” but does that on his own terms. Typical Dane right? Ranger is an expert escape artist (may explain him being found wandering on a highway). He knows how to open closed doors and unlatches chain link gates. A 6ft fence will be required ...no exceptions! Ranger quickly picked up on using the doggie door. He is housebroken and has had zero accidents in the house!

Ranger like many other Danes seems to enjoy counter surfing so keeping the food secured is a must or it will disappear. For snacks, he enjoys a bar of soap or two as well as digs through garbage cans (which he is capable of opening any closed can) to find any leftover goodies. Additionally, Ranger does not like drinking from a water bowl, instead he lifts the toilet seat lid to get fresh cold water.

Ranger does enjoy a quick cuddle and will lay his head in your lap but then he chooses to retreat his own space cuddling with his foster sister, Liberty.

At bedtime it’s pretty much the same; he’ll lay on the bed with you for 15-20 minutes then he is off to his bed for the night. Ranger has not been crated in his current foster home.

Ranger is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and has been microchipped. He is heartworm positive which he is being treated for and his new family will have to continue treatment (provided by the rescue) for a few more months

Ranger’s adoption fee is $350. To read over our adoption coverage area and requirements before applying, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dog from his or her foster family in person. In addition, we do not hold dogs for approved adopters.
