RANGER's Story

12/05/25 14:47 Meet Ranger, a 2 year old 63 pound male German Shepherd. He is available for rescue only. Ranger is a big time cuddler, showing serious love and affection to every person he meets. He is the ideal work-from-home companion, and has done amazing in the home environment with his Foster Family. Ranger struggles with other animals, getting anxious or jumpy around squirrels, cats, and other dogs. He knows a lot of tricks and would probably love to show them off in exchange for a cuddle or two after. 10/16/25 14:32 Notes from Rangers Foster: Ranger has been with us for about a month and a half now. Overall, he's been doing great! We're continuing to work on his commands (sit, paw, stay, etc.), and we've been also working on them outside during walks to help him stay calm when he sees other dogs and animals. His reactivity has been improving gradually, and when we see dogs from a distance outside, he's sometimes able to redirect himself and go in the other direction on his own. It's a great step! He's also been much calmer seeing cats in windows. His separation anxiety is pretty much completely gone! We are able to leave him at home, uncrated and he's by himself with no problem. We've also noticed he gained some healthy weight since we first started fostering him, which is great as he was very skinny when he first came from the shelter. He especially loves the new food we bought him, which is the Kirkland Signature Adult Formula in Lamb, Rice and Vegetable flavor. He seems to prefer it to chicken. We've loved having Ranger at home with us, and know any other family would too. He's such a sweetheart, very affectionate, and loves to cuddle. 09/16/25 16:05 This dog has been in our care since 4/30/25 and could benefit from being out of the shelter. Placed on needs rescue. From Rangers Foster: Ranger has been doing amazing with us. Since arriving, he's been fully house trained, mastered the staircase (which he had never seen before), knows sit and paw (with both paws!), and he's been practicing stay, come, and leave it. He is super affectionate and loves all the attention, all the time. He's been the perfect work-from-home companion and loves every person he meets (and they've definitely loved him). He walks nicely on the leash, though he does get anxious and jumpy around squirrels, cats, and other dogs. Because of this, I would not recommend Ranger in a house with other animals. However, it's not too difficult to hold him and lead him in the other direction on walks. Sometimes he gets the nighttime zoomies, but he works out his energy quickly. Most of the day he lazes around and begs for cuddles. He gets very attached very quickly and we are working on calming his separation anxiety, which has gotten much better since he arrived with us. Any family would be so lucky to have Ranger. He's truly so sweet and loving and will light up your life with joy and laughter.
