Ralphie's Story

Dog Name: Ralphie
Age: 2
Gender: Male
Breed: Pit mix
Weight: 71lbs
Crate trained: Yes
Potty trained: Yes
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: Unknown
Kid friendly: Likely
Vaccinated: Yes
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Heartworm: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
Energy level: Lower

Ralphie is the kind of dog that makes you smile the second you see him. With his enormous, handsome head, soft eyes, and gentle energy, he is impossible not to fall in love with. A big Boxer/Pit mix who was found as a thin stray in Oak Lawn, Ralphie has decided that life's two greatest pleasures are eating and sleeping. He is incredibly cuddly and will happily curl up next to you. Once he drifts off, his faint little snores are basically a built-in white noise machine.

Ralphie has a laid-back, affectionate personality. He wakes up when you wake up which is nice! He's currently crated during the day and does wonderfully. He willingly goes into his crate with a slight expectation of a treat and relaxes quickly. I do have 2 other dogs who roam free and at first I tried keeping them separated but Ralphie wanted to be near them. My small dog is always snuggled up to him and he plays with her appropriately for her size. He loves playing tug and wrestling with my large dog. We are working on his counter surfing habits and his need to announce/ bark at every dog that walks by. He would do best with a secure fenced in yard to keep him safe while learning manners.

Ralphie is an affectionate companion. I think he would be fine in a home with other dogs or alone. He enjoys to be near his people and nap on all the soft things in questionably comfortable positions. If you're looking for a dog that feels more like a warm, snoring weighted blanket with a personality, Ralphie might just be your guy!

If you're interested in meeting, Ralphie, please fill out an
application at the link below.

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
