Raimo's Story
Raimo is a 3 yo, neutered male black German Shepherd dog.

Raimo is silly, entertaining, and a sweetheart.
He is a COVID dog and was owned by an elderly couple.
While well socialized with dogs, cats, and children, Raimo was protective of his older family and reactive to other dogs and people on leash. Due to this, he was going to be euthanized. This reactivity is very workable with training and a strong, kind partner.

Raimo is great with cats! If you have a cat that is nervous around dogs and runs away, he might give chase but do not worry! He is very respectful of cats' boundaries and does not want to harm them.

Due to lack of proper socialization (thanks COVID!) as a young puppy, Raimo can be standoff-ish and even nervous around new people. Proper introductions are important and respect of his boundaries are also vital to him feeling safe around new people. Raimo has been in our care for a handful of months now, and so far, he has ignored every person interested in adopting him. It's like getting the cold shoulder. Until he has ample time to gauge if he feels safe around you, Raimo is likely to pretend you do not exist. Around friendly and exuberant dogs Raimo is far more interested in meeting people if other dogs are also showing interest. But so far, the pressure of one-on-one meetings with Raimo has left him more focused on his foster mom and ignoring interested parties.

DO NOT plan to meet Raimo and set expectations. In our experience, he is likely to come around very quickly in a home with another dog. Without one, it could take a day or two for him to want to approach you.
Because of this, we are looking for Raimo to go home with another dog--preferably an outgoing, confident, and well socialized one!

Raimo loves water! If he could have the hose spraying on him at all times, he would be in heaven. He is a playful, fun boy who wants a home with another young, playful dog.

Sometimes Raimo is quite vocal like many shepherds are -but we promise his sweet personality will win anyone over. He has great basic obedience skills and is crate and house trained.

He is one of the easiest COVID shepherds we have worked with, and his new family will be so lucky to have this mushy, goofy boy once they win him over!!
