Ragnar's Story

Meet Ragnar

Ragnar is a 14-month-old Turkish Kangal Shepherd mix weighing in at an impressive 150 lbs—and yes, he’s just as majestic as he sounds. Kangal Shepherds are a livestock guardian breed, bred for independence, confidence, and making their own decisions, and Ragnar absolutely carries those traits.

Ragnar has not been proven as a working dog and came from a survival situation where he had to fend for himself, including eating animals to survive. Because of this, we do not know if he is appropriate for homes with livestock, small animals, or cats. He has done well with other large breed dogs! We want to be very clear so Ragnar can land in a home set up for success.

Despite his rough start, Ragnar is a sweet, people-friendly, and very confident boy. He enjoys human companionship, is comfortable meeting new people, and carries himself with calm self-assurance. He’s still young, very large, and will need an adopter who understands giant breeds and guardian-type dogs, including their need for structure, space, and clear boundaries.

Ragnar will thrive in a home with:
• Room to roam - he is a dog that is not suitable for an apartment
• Commitment to continued training and guidance

If you’re looking for a loyal, confident companion with a big presence and an even bigger heart, Ragnar may be your guy!
