Rae Rae's Story
Hi, I’m Rae Rae!
I arrived at WAG just a few days before Christmas with my litter of 7 beautiful puppies. I was a devoted mom even though I was barely more than a puppy myself. Now, after watching all my babies head off to loving homes, I’m still waiting for my turn.
I’ve been at the shelter for a few months now, and while I’ve grown so much, I’m still hoping someone special will see me for the wonderful dog I am. I’m sweet, affectionate, and love belly rubs - I’ve got so much love to give to the right person.
A Work in Progress, but Full of Personality
Even though I'm improving every day, I do still have some quirks - and who doesn’t? I can be reactive to traffic and to unfamiliar dogs, especially when I feel unsure or overwhelmed. But the good news is: with consistency, time, and a positive training plan, I’m learning how to navigate the world more calmly and confidently.
When I’m in a calm, safe space, my playful side really shines! I absolutely love chasing toys, playing silly games, and zooming around - I’ve got loads of energy and a goofy side that keeps everyone smiling. And once playtime is over, I’m always ready to curl up for a cuddle and some treats - my two other favorite things!
Why I’m Worth It
I’m not a “ready-made” dog, but I am a loyal, loving companion in the making. With the right people by my side, I know I can thrive. I just need someone to see the real me - the cuddlebug with the big heart - and help me feel safe in a world that hasn’t always been easy.
WAG is still hoping to find me a foster home where I can decompress and feel more relaxed while I wait for my forever family.
My perfect Home
I’m looking for a patient, understanding home that will continue to help me grow at my own pace. The ideal setup for me includes:
A quieter, less urban environment
A secure yard or safe area to explore on a long line
A commitment to positive reinforcement training with a WAG-approved trainer
Humans who can read or are willing to learn canine body language, so I feel understood
No pressure to be perfect - just love, structure, and patience
Dog friends? I’ve made a few, like my buddy Taylor at the shelter, but I do best with slow introductions and parallel walks. I still find seeing new dogs and busy environments a bit overwhelming, but with time, I’m learning they’re not so scary

Find out more at https://www.whistlerwag.com/dogs/rae-rae
