Rae's Story

FROM A PUPPY MILL TO A SECOND CHANCE — THIS IS RAE!
Some dogs spend their lives being loved. Rae spent hers being used. After years in a puppy mill, Rae was discarded when she was no longer valuable for breeding. Fortunately, her story didn't end there. She found safety in a senior dog sanctuary, where she quickly made friends and discovered that life could be more than survival.
Then came another big change. Rae traveled all the way from Florida to Illinois in search of a forever home. The move was overwhelming for this sweet girl. The noise and activity of her first foster home left her frightened, and she spent much of her first week tucked away in a corner, trying to make sense of her new world.
So we listened to what Rae was telling us. We moved her to a quieter foster home, and everything changed. Now Rae is beginning to bloom. She enjoys exploring a large yard, has become friends with her dogmate Max (a Citizen Canine alum!), happily accepts treats, and is warming up to her foster family a little more every day. She's intelligent, housebroken, and in good health.
And yes, our girl is carrying a few extra pounds—but she's already lost 5 pounds and is well on her way to finding her waistline again!
Rae doesn't need perfection. She needs patience and kindness, and someone willing to let her continue discovering that the world can be a safe and loving place. If you'd like to be the person who helps Rae write the happiest chapter of her life, we'd love to introduce you. Apply to meet Rae today.
