Rachel's Story

Meet Rachel. The perfect balance between adventure buddy and cuddle bug. Looking at her now you would’ve never guessed that her story started as a stray on the street at just three months. Shortly after, she found herself in an overcrowded Texas shelter facing euthanization risks. Even in those moments, Rachel's joyful and energetic personality was evident! In January, this brave girl took her fifteen hour freedom ride to Minnesota where she now resides in a foster home.

Rachel is still young and has much to explore and learn about the world. She's looking for a patient family to help her finish training, but don't worry! She's a very quick learner and extremely intelligent. While we don't know her exact breed, we suspect she could have some Kelpie in her! We expect her to grow into a manageable medium size.

Before we continue, Rachel would want you to know that she has strong opinions about lots of things. For starters, puppy clothes are not silly, even if fellow puppies think so. Soft blankets and belly rubs are necessities, and baths are dreadful! Rachel loves going on walks in the sunshine. She still can't decide if leaping into the air or laying her head down while wagging her tail are better ways to express her excitement.

New things are Rachel's favorite. New places, new toys, new tricks, new spaces to play in, new people, new dogs, and new experiences. If you love adventure, good. We've found your companion! Just make sure you keep her close by on a leash or a fenced in yard at first or else her excitement for new things will lead the way.

This sweet girl absolutely loves people and is excellent with both dogs and kids! She struggles to be alone though, so Rachel would thrive best in a family with lots of activity, stimulation, and opportunity for companionship. When she gets to spend one on one time with you, her cuddly side emerges - one that will instantly make anyone's heart melt. A bad day instantly becomes better when Rachel's cuddles are present!

Because of all she's gone through, Rachel is looking for a committed family to be her adventure buddies and companions for life. If you're looking for an adventurous friend packed with energy, free cuddles, overflowing joy, and fearless excitement about life, Rachel is for you!

Foster to contact: Hannah at loguefamily25@gmail.com

Adoption Fee: $550 (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Apple Valley Petco (7590 150th St W, Apple Valley, MN 55124)
Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.
The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!
CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office @ mail@last-hope.org and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit! We will get back to you as quick as we can.
