Puppy's Story

He was picked up as a stray on July 30th. We thought he would be claimed quickly bc he was so sweet and good looking. That is why we didn’t name him. We have called a variety of names: (full) Monty, Dingo Boy, Mr. Camo-Pants... mostly just “Puppy”.
The vet estimates him to be about 11 months old (11/20/2024) presently.
Puppy is aggressively friendly. He wants to say hi to every person and animal we come across on our walks or who comes to the house. He’s quite cheerful, smart, and eager to learn. What little training I have done with him is with the assistance of treat rewards.
He loves to be outside - running around, grazing on grass, or just sitting in the sunshine. Mornings are his active time requiring a good deal of attention, and he seems to settle down for naps more easily in the afternoon. In the evening he likes to sit with family on the couch to watch TV and get belly rubs. That said, he doesn’t quite grasp the concept of personal space. He believes himself to be a cat-sized lap dog.
Speaking of cats, we have an older female who confines herself to the master bedroom. Puppy will want to go in and say hi. She responds with hissing, meowing, and swiping if he gets too close. It did not look as if he wanted to attack her at all. He’s just curious.
He can be left home alone for a few hours during the day. This only happens about once every couple weeks. As far as toys go, he’s destroyed and tried to eat all things furry within hours. We limit him to Nyla bones and a couple of hard to destroy balls.
We put him in a kennel to sleep at night. He resists going in but doesn’t complain for the rest of the time once he’s in. He does great on a people bed, too, but wants to be let out too early in the morning for my grown kids’ taste when they’re here. He will tolerate a shower but doesn’t care to be towel dried.
Puppy is housebroken, neutered, and vaccinated (not chipped). He deserves a good home with someone to give him attention, training, enrichment, companionship, and room to run.
12/18/25 2:25 AM
