Puma's Story

I am fee-waived!

Hi - My name is Puma.

I LOVE: being with my people, going for walks, playing with toys, and enjoying tasty treats. I’m a sweet, goofy boy who loves attention but can also settle down and relax when it’s time to take it easy.

I KNOW: Sit, my name, and how to settle into a home routine. I’ve spent time in both a foster home and an office, where I slept through the night, had no accidents, and did well being left alone for a few hours. I’m a smart boy who pays close attention to my person and responds well to redirection.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE: affectionate, playful, and happy to spend his days by your side, I could be your guy. I can be strong on leash when something exciting like a squirrel or rabbit catches my attention, but I redirect pretty well. I’d be happiest in an adult-only home where I can enjoy a quieter routine with my people rather than the dog-park scene.

I AM SPECIAL BECAUSE: I’ve been waiting for a home for more than 200 days, and in that time everyone has gotten to know just how sweet I am. I’m playful when it’s time for fun, happy to relax when you’re busy, and always glad to be near my people. I do have a sensitive stomach and currently do well with a special diet and smaller, spaced-out meals, so my new family will need to continue working with a veterinarian on the best diet for me.

SPCA TAMPA BAY's Adoption Policy
Ready to Meet Your New Best Friend? 🐾 We’re so excited that you’re considering adoption! Our goal is to make the adoption experience welcoming, easy, and safe for both you and your new pet. Here are a few things to know before you visit: All adoptions take place in person. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and spend time with the pet, followed by a conversation with one of our friendly Adoption Counselors to help make sure it’s a great match. Our pets are available for adoption on a first-come, first-served basis. Because we want every pet to have the opportunity to find a home as soon as possible, we’re unable to place holds on pets over the phone. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older and bring a valid photo ID. Heading home with a dog? 🐶 Dogs must leave with a properly fitted collar and leash. Adopting a cat, rabbit, pocket pet, or reptile? 🐱🐰 They’ll need to travel home safely in an appropriate, secure carrier. Forgot your supplies or don’t have them yet? No worries! Collars, leashes, and carriers are available for purchase right here in our Adoption Center. We encourage you to come in, meet the animals who catch your eye, and keep an open heart—you may just find that the pet you least expected turns out to be your perfect match. ❤️ We can’t wait to help you welcome your new family member home!
