Puma's Story

*PUMA*

Age: Approx. 3 years
Location: Playa del Carmen, Mexico, flying to YVR July 9th
Gender: Female
Size: Med/Large
Weight: 23 kg
Vaccinated
Dewormed
Spayed

>> TEMPERAMENT <<

Even given her extreme neglect as a puppy, she has the BEST most happy temperament! She just wants to love on you, give attention & receive attention. She’s super social, it’s like she has a new lease on life and she’s loving it! She enjoys playing with her foster siblings & dogs of all sizes. She is obedient and a quick learner too!
What makes her extra special is her soulful, loving gaze and her tail that wags like a little engine full of life :)

>> Energy level: Moderate
>> Good with kids: Yes, she loves the attention - but she doesn’t know her own size and wants to play! Older kids probably best for that reason.
>> Good with dogs: Yes, loves them!
>> Good with cats: Curious, not a lot of exposure, should be leashed at first.
>> Barks a lot: No
>> House-trained: Yes
>> Leash-trained: Yes
>> Good in the car: Yes

>> RESCUE STORY <<

Can you even imagine… since being a little puppy until about 2 yrs old - Puma was tied up in a yard (with only a 3ft rope!!) with no roof or shade — under the scorching sun and through the rain, day and night. She had to relieve herself nearby since no one cleaned up after her, and she was barely fed — only a kind neighbor would give her scraps.
She was eventually reported & picked up by animal control and then spent one whole year in a cage where she became depressed and lost so much weight she was just skin and bones. The pups at the local pound have medical care and safe shelter. But they don’t get proper walks, very limited human interactions. It’s a lonely place.
Thankfully, she was taken in by a foster home for a short time, where she recovered and is becoming the joyful loving girl she is! Now she’s ready to experience what a forever home is like!
