Meet Puck - in Maine

Puck - in Maine - updated December 2023

Meet Puck! This 12-18 month old gorgeous boy appears to be a cattle dog/ corgi mix and he is looking for an adventurous home that embraces training and consistent activity as a lifestyle choice. This boy is food and toy motivated and channels the energizer bunny more so than a snuggle bunny. You dig outdoor activities? He would love to romp with you! Considering dog sports? He would thrive in obedience, rally, barn hunt, trick training, etc. This boy really wants to connect and do ALL the things.

He is sweet, SUPER smart, and eager to learn. He is house trained , crate-trained and uses a pen for rest breaks. He will need a bit of "toddler-proofing" because he has not learned boundaries when it comes to coffee table offerings, electric cords and slippers. If he was bigger he would be a counter surfer ; 0 ) He is learning recall, sit, paws up, off, down and touch. He would be a perfect companion for someone who cherishes building a relationship with a pup through fun, rewarding training and adventures. Herders need to work and build close relationships and he is no exception. We don't feel confident with his cat test at the shelter where he formerly lived so if a family has felines, we may need to test him again in a home setting. Puck enjoys canine companionship and romps with a neighbor pup and while he can get a bit "spicy" he also listens when the other pup tells him to back off. He would do best with similarly energetic and balanced dogs. We think Puck would be too much for small humans and would only consider homes with dog-savvy children age 12 and up with herding breed experience.

Puck has required some medical intervention since arriving with us but he is doing great now, except is showing early signs of hip dysplasia. Cattle dogs and corgis are both prone to this and he drew the unlucky genetic card. Because this is caught early and he can be started on joint supplements now, he should do well with continued monitoring. It certainly doesn't slow him down, and he bounds around like a gazelle and has had some pretty epic zoomies in the yard.

Puck has his very own Facebook page that he set up with his foster mom. Check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61553848664827

If you have interest in meeting Puck or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application here: http://www.luckypuprescue.org/adoption-application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
