Vaccinations up to date, special needs. Promise was brought to us with damage to her back legs due to accidentally being shut in a car door. She gets around in a "wheelchair" and on her own on the floor but does need to wear diapers. After a CT scan it showed that Promise has an inoperable spinal lesion spanning her T12 and L2 vertebrae.

Meet Promise
She is the definition of strength, perseverance and hope. Promise came in 3 weeks ago with reports of having been accidentally shut in a car door and gradually losing the ability to use her back legs. We knew that Promise would need lots of special care and around the clock attention so we reached out to several animal rescue organizations in hopes that a smaller group would have more time and resources to dedicate to this very special girl. Unfortunately no other groups had room for Promise, so she's staying with us. She told us she loves being a beach babe anyways...
The first thing that Promise needed was a wheelchair. The kind-hearted daughter of one of our amazing volunteers ordered one immediately!! Because x-rays showed no abnormalities, we were told we needed to have a CT scan done to see what kind of damage there was. That was done this past weekend and it looks like Promise has an inoperable spinal lesion spanning her T12 and L2 vertebrae.
Our next steps are further confirmation testing, and discussing rehabilitation options. We refuse to lose hope that one day she could walk again.
Promise greets every day with a huge smile, tons of kisses and plenty of tail wags. She is such an inspiration to all of us at GSHS and we are so fortunate that she came into our lives.
