Meet Priscilla
Priscilla has had quite the rescue story. She came into rescue newly pregnant, not trusting humans and semi feral. She was learning to trust her foster mom when she decided to dig out under the fence on a rainy day. She ended up on the run for 6 days! Her foster mom finally was able to find her and with some trust, delicious food and a familiar voice, Priscilla decided it was time to give in and come “home. She learned to trust her foster mom and learned that living in a home was the best thing ever. She learned that snuggles on the couch were soothing. She learned to use the doggy door so she could go outside but always come back in where it was dry and safe. She learned where the treats were kept and when it was treat time. She learned that “home” was a safe place and where she wanted to be.
Priscilla gave birth to 7 healthy babies in May. She was a great mom to her babies. When it was time to wean her babies and get spayed, we found she had a venereal tumor, which is cancerous. So we began weekly rounds of chemo at the vet. She was such a good patient, even though she hated it. She was patient with sitting there receiving her fluids and chemo, but she was always ready to leave when it was time to go. When the vet thought we got to a point he’d need to go in to do some removal of what was left, she had surgery to remove the tumor, however it ended up being a very simple procedure b/c the chemo had been working so well. The vet was very happy with her results and the tumor is gone!
Priscilla has been through so much but you wouldn’t know it looking at her. From being feral and uncatchable in the beginning of her story, to a total lover of people. She is a total love and wants to be loved now. She’s a little nervous in new situations but she’s eager to try if she trusts you. She recently went to Tails for Trails and was nervous when other dogs barked but she loved going for the walk and meeting new people. She would love to sleep with her foster mom in bed; however, she chases the cats and has currently lost that privilege. So she settles for the couch instead. She would do best in a home without cats as she can’t be fully trusted if they run. She goes on squirrel patrol when one is spotted in the trees! She loves to play with other dogs in her foster home. Priscilla is very treat and food motivated. She loves to go for rides and will “load up” very easily and travels nicely as co-pilot or passenger. She can be a chewer but hasn’t been destructive that her foster mom has noticed.
She is a heeler mix & can be nippy when she’s excited and playing. She’s a big girl at 60 lbs. She is on the high end of medium and low end of a large dog. We think she’s around 3 years old. She still has some puppy-ness in her when she wants to play. Priscilla needs to have a very secure fenced yard
Her previous family feels she'd do better with older children since she still gets excited and jumps and is nippy. She still pulls on a leash but with some more training and use of a harness, she could improve. She gets very excited to go on walks and is very strong. She needs plenty of room to run so she can burn her energy. She is very scared of fireworks. She'd probably do best with a doggy companion or someone who is home more. She loves to get attention and get loves from her person.
Her adoption fee is $100.00. She is spayed and is up to date on vaccinations including rabies. She will require a tall secure above ground fenced yard. We require that our dogs be allowed in their family home and be allowed to sleep inside at night. An adoption contract is completed and signed at the time of adoption.
