Preston

Preston is a young male purebred Walker hound who is 1 1/2 years old. His coloring is white with liver and brown markings; he has the typical hound eyes and very sweet temperament. Preston was found by a Good Samaritan; he was seeking shelter in a thunderstorm and was emaciated and very weak from starvation. Due to his condition, Preston has a longer recovery time than most of our "Second Chance" homeless animals but will be ready for adoption the end of June. His condition has improved drastically with lots of TLC and medical care. When fully recovered, he will weigh about 60 pounds. This lovable hound is vaccinated and will soon be neutered. Walker hounds are an old breed, dating back to the 1860's in the United States. Athletic in ability, this breed makes a wonderful family companion and excellent hunting dog. All hound dogs need playtime outside to be happy; something new to sniff each day is a must! A fenced yard is mandatory for this Walker hound and another playmate would suit him best. Scent hounds like Preston are loyal and very intelligent, affectionate when treated well and love the outdoors where they can explore new things.
