Power Puff Girls

As you may have seen, we recently acquired a few Ovcharkas, more commonly known as Caucasian Shepherds. If you are familiar with the breed, then you know that this is a HUGE undertaking for a rescue when it comes to finding appropriate placement for these dogs. If you are not familiar with the breed, you might think they look like big fluffy teddy bears. You would be very wrong. <br/>So our friends here, are what you might like to call a FAFO type breed. Bred for livestock guarding in the mountains of somewhere very far away to protect their flocks from wolves and bears, grumpkins and snarks, they take their jobs very seriously. Unfortunately these dogs, were bred here in the US, and spent their short lives living in deplorable conditions, in a dilapidated "building" in crates far too small, covered in their own excrement. <br/><br/>Well, now they are with us, currently living on a farm, and being evaluated as to what their future homes may look like. Will they grow up to guard livestock, or guard couches? This currently remains to be seen, but we are accepting applications so that we may begin screening folks in hopes of finding them appropriate homes, before the turn of the century. Our trainer is working closely with us to help make these determinations, so please be patient with us during the process, and don't take it personally if we say its not a good fit.
