Potato's Story

Potato - a gentle little soul who just needs time to bloom <br/>Potato is a sweet young pup with a sensitive heart who can feel overwhelmed in new places and around unfamiliar people. While he may be shy at first, he isn't aggressive - just unsure - and with patience, kindness, and a little reassurance, his true loving personality begins to shine. Potato is very much a "dog's dog" and finds comfort and confidence in the presence of other pups, so he'd thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion to help show him the ropes. With a patient family willing to move at his pace, Potato will grow into a loyal, affectionate companion whose quiet trust and gentl

Southern Souls Animal League's Adoption Policy
After you have completed your application, our adoption coordinator will schedule a time to talk with you via phone or videoconference and further discuss your application and the appropriate animal(s) for your home. We currently are operating by appointment only. Meet & greets or animal pick-up/drop-off will be discussed with the adoption counselor after the application approval. What is included in the adoption fee? Our adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, microchip, vaccinations for the Bordatella Virus (Kennel Cough), Parvo/Corona Virus (Distemper), Canine Influenza Virus (CIV), and a 14-day limited health guarantee. What is the adoption process? We ask that all potential adopters complete an adoption application this helps us determine how the pet will fit into your current lifestyle. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age. We need to have landlord approval prior to adopting to renters.  We do not place holds on any pet that is available for adoption.  If there are multiple approved adoption applications, the best match will be selected by animal caretakers. Caretakers interact with these animals daily and are able to judge the pet's personality the best. All members of the family should meet with the new pet. If there are other dogs in the household, we request that the potential adopters go through a “meet and greet” process with their current dog. This helps determine whether the dogs will get along with each other. In the case of a senior dog who may be overstressed by visiting the shelter, we will waive the “meet and greet” requirement. We do not have a “meet and greet” requirement for cats. If you are planning to adopt a dog and have cats at home, please ask our staff how the dog is good with cats.
