Porter's Story

Meet Porter!

Porter is a sweet senior dog who has been at DCAS for a while now. He came to us as a timid, scared stray, but thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, he’s slowly coming out of his shell. Porter is partially blind and deaf, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying his walks, responding to his name, and even taking treats from our hands!

Porter is looking for a loving home where someone is patient and willing to spend quality time helping him continue to gain confidence. He also enjoys the company of other dogs. Could you be the special person to give Porter the home he deserves?

By the way, Porter is neutered, microchipped, and current on all shots -- all ready for a new home.

For more information, please call Douglas County Animal Services (DCAS) at 775-782-9061 or Douglas Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) at 775-267-7325. Or come meet me at the Douglas County Animal Shelter (please call first to make sure I'm still at the shelter). Click on Douglas Animal Welfare Group below for the address and directions.

ALSO A "MEET AND GREET" WILL BE REQUIRED IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER DOGS IN THE HOUSEHOLD.

ONE LAST THING! If you rent, you will be required to provide written approval from your landlord that you can have a dog. It needs to be specific, i.e. all dogs okay, no big dogs, specific breeds restricted, etc.
