Meet Porkchop
The best things in life are MEEEE!
My name is Porkchop. I am a 1.5-year-old, 25-pound, Dachshund/Heeler mix guy. I came to Rescue One from a kill shelter in Kansas. I was on the list to be (GULP!) Euthanized, and was saved just in time (PHEW!). I am happy to be out of that cage and in a foster home, and I can't wait to find my loving forever home. Sadly, I am heartworm positive right now, but I am being treated and will be good as new after treatment. You can still adopt me though (as long as you live within 30 miles of Springfield). All I need is a place to rest until I am better and to be given meds twice a day. The nice people at Rescue One will even provide the meds! I am still working on house training and crate training. Because I was cooped up in a cage at the shelter and had to go potty in there, it has been a little bit of a challenge to learn. I am getting better though! I am laid back, playful, cuddly, and loyal. I get along with other dogs and even cats! I haven't met any kids yet, but I can be kid tested if needed. I would love a home with a fenced yard and another dog to hang out and play with, but I would be okay without a fence, since I do great on a leash. I would be fine as an only dog too, as long as I get plenty of attention and play time from my new family. I'm not sure how I would do in an apartment, because I have a pretty big bark for such a small guy. Oh yeah! I know a few commands too, like Sit, Quiet, Inside, Outside, and Kennel. I guess I must be smart! If you'd like to meet me, fill out an application today!
**Special Note: Porkchop must be adopted locally within Springfield and surrounding areas due to ongoing heartworm treatment which will be completed at the Rescue One Clinic. No worries though - heartworms are not contagious from dog-to-dog, and Porkchop should not have any special needs related to heartworms after completing treatment!
My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check. *Adopter is responsible for coming to get the dog and returning the dog if the adoption does not work out*
