Meet Porkchop
They say "there is poetry in a pork chop, to a hungry man"... well, paint me a poet, because you must be as starved for true love as I am!
My name IS Porkchop! I am a 1 and 1/2 year old, 25-lb, Dachshund/Heeler mix guy!
I came to Rescue One from a high-kill shelter in Kansas. I was on the list to be (GULP!) euthanized, and some wonderful people thought that was absolute hogwash and saved me JUST in time to see my next meal; even if I didn't know for sure where it was coming from. Little did I know what a lucky little piglet I would be! I was found to be heartworm-positive when I reached my rescuers, but I conquered my heartworm treatment like a real radiant porker! I am clear of those boogers and have no special needs!
When Charlotte wrote "Some Pig!" in her web, she was definitely talking about ME. You won't pull a "ham"-string walking me, because I am paw-fect on a leash!
I am also mostly kennel-trained; I am hog-heaven in my crate almost always, I won't be "bacon" you crazy! When I see you getting my dinner ready or am excited to see you come home, I DO wanna taco-bout it, though... I don't squeal or go hog-wild, but I definitely oink! What can I say... it's my love language :) but I am getting better about this daily. I'm also learning potty-training, and improving every day! I also know "sit", "quiet", "inside", "outside" and "kennel"!
I am laid back, playful, cuddly, and loyal! I'm also a real "Babe" (hehe, get it?) with all other dogs, and even cats! I haven't met any kids yet, but I can be kiddo-tested by my rescuers if needed. My fur-ever home should be a house with a fenced-in yard for me to explore, but I am SO great on a leash that I could be okay with many walks if you don't have a fence. No a-pawt-ments for this boy! I would LOVE another pup-peroni in my future fur-ever, but I'd be fine-as-swine to be your one-and-only.
I'm no pig-ment of your imagination... I've been waiting for you all my life! If I promise to never be "boar"-ing, will you promise to love me forever, as much as I already love you? Apply to adopt me today!
I am currently enrolled in the Pups for Parole training program. Upon graduation, I will have all the basic training necessary to make a great companion. I will need a family willing to continue my training, I sure don't want to forget all that I learned!
