Pops's Story

Meet Pops, he is a sweet, gentle explorer with the biggest heart and an even bigger spirit! Despite being completely blind, Pops doesn’t let that slow him down — he’s a happy, confident boy who loves his walks, car rides, and cuddly naps.

Pops came to HRAAD after he was found after being attacked by a coyote — but he’s made a full recovery and hasn’t let it dim his gentle spirit.

Pops enjoys 1–2 walks a day and does wonderfully on leash. Because he can’t see, he’ll need some patient guidance to learn his surroundings, but once he knows the lay of the land, he gets around beautifully. He’s also a fan of water adventures and has done great at the groomer — charming everyone he meets!

He’s quiet, housebroken, and an excellent sleeper at night. Pops gets along well with male and female dogs and has no food or resource guarding issues. He’s not very food-motivated, so he does best with high-value treats and lots of praise. Pops is around 65lbs.

At home, Pops is calm and affectionate — he loves being near his people and relaxing after a day of exploration. Because of his blindness, he’ll thrive in a simple home layout with minimal stairs and patient humans who can help him settle in and feel safe. He’s an incredible, resilient dog who will repay love and patience with endless loyalty and companionship.

Pops is ready for his next adventure — and hopes it’s with you!
