Poppy's Story

Meet Poppy! She is guessed to be around 5 years old, spayed, and is microchipped but it is unregistered. When Poppy was brought into our clinic as a stray, she was skin and bones. It was clear that she has been on her own for a long time. It was quickly realized that she also got into rat poison. Throughout the day, she continued to get worse as we realized she was also battling re-feeding syndrome. She became immobile for 3 days. One of our technicians took her over the weekend for palliative care, unsure if she was going to make it. To our surprise, by Monday morning she was moving and wanting to eat on her own again! The next day she was up and walking. While she stole all of our hearts, it became clear that she does need to be in a home WITHOUT cats or dogs so none of us are able to give her a forever home. We are hoping there is someone out there wanting to take this loving dog into their empty home. She fought to stay alive and deserves her own home now! She has been gaining weight and showing her loving personality with all the staff. Please let us know if you have any questions or interest. We do have an adoption application through the clinic here https://form.jotform.com/230327825409153 or you can email us at staff@caledoniavets.com with further questions.
