Poppy and Kinny's Story
Meet adorable Poppy! ( Poppy has a "twin" brother, Kinny) they love each other and love to play with each other, we are hoping they can be adopted together. If adopted out separately, of course would depend on the future home. See Kinny's profile on Petfinder as well.
Poppy was on the kill list because she showed her teeth to a shelter handler, so, they put her on that horrible list. She was just terrified and was trying to protect herself in such a scary situation. She was terrified in the shelter, it was heartbreaking, as was Kinny. They were filthy, neglected and just so scared! Once they were in their foster home, everything changed. They both went from cowering to running and playing, flying through the air to land on the couch. They could feel the love and knew they were safe!

Poppy is about 1-2 years old, she is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, she weighs 13-15 lbs. We think she is a Havanese mix, maybe Maltipoo. She has a long body with a happy, wagging tail.
Poppy is a really young dog, more puppy like and needs a semi active-active home to play with her, take her on walks or hikes, which she still needs a little learning on how to walk on a leash. She is super smart, so we know she will get there! She gets along great with other dogs. We don't know about cats. She rides well in a car. Poppy is learning commands and learning to go potty outside. Her next home will need to continue working on this with giving her frequent potty breaks outside with positive words and praise. After playing, she loves to snuggle next to her person. She is very sweet.
Her coat ( once grown back- the shelter shaved her down)- see her shelter picture here in her little white shirt- will need to be groomed every 7-8 weeks to keep her coat and nails healthy and mat free. Brushing a couple of times a week will also be needed.

Poppy needs a fully fenced yard, at least 5' tall. We think she would get along great with respectful, somewhat quiet kids. ( We know kids are kids and can be loud)
If you feel you need Poppy in your life and would like an application, please email familytailsdogrescue@gmail.com Poppy's adoption fee is $600.
