Poppy's Story
Poppy is a 2yr old, 45 lb lab mix, but most importantly, she is an absolute love bug. She loves people (including kids) and dogs and has shown no aggressive tendencies so far at all, but has not been cat tested yet. Despite not having been part of a home before, she seems made to be part of a family and is adapting quickly and is eager to please.

Things Poppy is already a pro at:

Playing with others

Cuddling

Going through the night without crying or accidents

Coming back and letting us take

things from her mouth when we ask

Sharing (perhaps to a fault, she and the other dog in her foster home were found eating food simultaneously out of the same dog bowl)

Snuggling in for bedtime books with the toddler in her foster home and looking at you adoringly all the while

Things Poppy is working on:

Signaling to go outside (if you take her out regularly or give her access to a dog door she has very few/no

accidents in a day, she just hasn’t picked up on telling us when she needs to pee yet)

Personal space (her favorite spot is as close to you as humanly possible)

Walking on a leash (this is clearly just a brand-new experience to her)

Figuring out what’s a dog toy or not - if it’s plastic and on the floor, she assumes it’s fair game, but is easily redirected to actual dog toys

Poppy has quite a bit of energy but can chill out if she sees no one wants to play right then. She would do great in a household either with another dog to run with, or with humans who can give an outlet for all wiggles!

Finally, since nothing beats the honesty of a child, here’s a 4 star review from a 3 year old:

“Poppy is a very nice dog, just sometimes she licks me when I don’t want her to.”

Come meet Poppy, but be prepared, you might just fall in love.

If you are interested, complete the
Adoption Application
on our website at
www.NeedyPaws.org
and we will contact you.

Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.

Poppy’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.

We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes.
