Poppe (was Leap)'s Story

Meet Poppe (“Slinky”) – Your Sensitive Shadow & Snuggle Expert

Poppe is an almost 2-year-old blue Weimaraner weighing around 55 pounds, with a heart that's just waiting for the right person—and pack—to help it fully shine. This beautiful girl came into rescue as a stray, and while we don't know what her past looked like, it's clear she's still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.

Affectionately nicknamed “Slinky,” Poppe has a charming (and a little heartbreaking) habit of crouching low and slinking away when she's unsure or frightened. But don't let that fool you—her true personality blossoms when she's surrounded by confident, well-balanced dogs. With a canine crew by her side, Poppe transforms into a happier, more relaxed, and even playful pup. She truly thrives as part of a pack and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes.

Poppe enjoys her walks and has made great progress on leash with confidence-building training. She's also a world-class cuddler once she bonds with her person—she just needs a little time and patience to get there.

Poppe's Ideal Home:

A home with at least one confident, well-balanced dog (this is a must!)
A calm, quiet environment without a lot of chaos or frequent new visitors (this is a must!)
Older, respectful children are okay, but a busy, high-traffic home is not the best fit
An adopter who understands shy dogs and can gently guide her as she builds confidence

The Practical Stuff:

Crate trained (especially when near her dog friends)
Can also be left out with her canine companions without getting into trouble
Housebroken, though she may need a little refresher as she settles into a new home
Has lived successfully with and without a dog door

Poppe does have a tendency to become a little protective of “her person,” so she'll do best with someone who can kindly set boundaries and not let that behavior take hold.

Poppe is currently being fostered in the DFW area and is ready to find her forever home. With patience, love, and the right doggy friends, this sweet girl will reward you with loyalty, affection, and the most heart-melting snuggles.

If you believe in giving shy dogs the time they need to bloom, Poppe just might be your perfect match.
