Our sweet guy is named after the legendary character from The Outsiders, and while he may not be running with the Greasers, he does have the same sensitive soul, loyal heart, and quiet strength.<br/>Meet Pony Boy — the sweetest, softest, most accidentally enthusiastic cattle dog mix you’ll ever encounter. This handsome lad came to us after an unfortunate mishap: he jumped up in excitement, nicked a child’s lip with a tooth, and suddenly found himself in a position where his very loving family could no longer keep him due to housing constraints.<br/>They were heartbroken.<br/>Pony Boy is heartbroken.<br/>And honestly? We’re heartbroken too.<br/>His former family truly did everything they could to keep him, and we want to honor them for that. Their love shows in the dog he is today.<br/>But now we need to help Pony Boy find the next chapter in his story — one filled with stability, comfort, and a couch he can finally call his own.<br/><br/>Why Pony Boy Is the Goodest Good Boi<br/>A little shy at first — He’ll give you that “Uhh… do I know you?” look… for about 30 seconds. Would pet again.<br/>He lived peacefully with another dog for years before his canine companion passed, and although he hasn’t had a roommate since, he’s been nothing but respectful and non-reactive to our current shelter pups. Mono County Animal Control's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is simple. If you are interested in one of our wonderful animals, come meet them and fill out our adoption application. If you application is approved, you pay a $40 adoption fee for dogs or a $25 adoption fee for cats. If the animal you are interested in has not yet been spayed or neutered, we will make an appointment to get the pet altered before you take him or her home. If the animal is too young or you have come a long way to pick him or her up, you can pay a Spay/Neuter deposit, which you get refunded after getting the animal altered before the deadline we give you.  If you have any questions about the adoption process, application, or spay/neuter contract, please give us a call at 760-932-5582. The Whitmore Animal Shelter is located near Mammoth Lakes, CA off of Benton Crossing Road, about 1/2 mile from Highway 395. The address is 575 Benton Crossing Road, Crowley Lake, CA 93546.
