POLLY's Story
You’ve heard of Polly Pocket, but have you met Polly the pocket pittie! This adorable pup is just 1 year and 4 months old and weighs just a little over 43lbs. Polly has been with us since the beginning of September and while it was obvious that she had a difficult start to life, that has not stopped her from dreaming of a beautiful future. Now all she is missing is you! Polly's foster wants to share notes about how she is settling into a home: “Polly has made tremendous progress in her 8 weeks out of the shelter. When she came to me, her nervous system was all out of whack, and now she has so many more skills to regulate herself! She is crate trained, potty trained, and working on her leash manners. She loves a good hike on a long line — her recall is fabulous! She has gotten to socialize with my two dogs and a friend’s dog regularly. She has become more confident and light-hearted in her play. She’d do well with a mature dog to show her the ropes in her new home. She needs a slower and intentional introduction to new dogs, as she is so excited she doesn’t know what to do with herself at first — she aims to become great friends! Polly is also very trainable and wants to please so badly! She knows sit, down, and bed. She is working on her leash skills, staying more in tune with her handler and less worried about everything else. She loads into the car on her own and rides quietly in the back. Once a person is in her circle of trust she is devoted and willing to be her best for you. While she is still wary of new people at the start, she has been expanding her horizons, learning that new people are a good thing! At home, she practices her “bed” behavior when people enter the house. She quickly makes friends, as all she really wants to do is be in your lap and soaking up all the attention she can get! If you’re willing to give this girl a chance to show you the depth of her love, your efforts in helping her to continue navigating the world will pay off! Polly’s adoption fee is paid by Nina Otero Community School, and a Special Thanks to Mrs. Vigil class forth grade class! This is Deeply appreciated from all of us at the shelter! She is spayed and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply. If you would like to meet her email newhope@sfhumanesociety.org
