Polly's Story
POLLY - Lab-Mix / 1.5 Years / 20kg / F-spayed

Dear Future Family,

Hi… my name is Polly. I'm hoping that my forever family might be reading this...I know that I'm not the loudest dog in the room and I don't ask to be the centre of attention. I'm really more of a quiet and gentle girl who takes the slow-burn approach when it comes to new things. But my foster family tells me that that's actually one of my best qualities. I like to take my time getting to know the world around me. I watch carefully, I listen thoughtfully, and I take everything in. There's just so much in this new Canadian world to notice. I might be a bit timid when you first meet me, but I promise that once I know you, my loving, affectionate side starts to shine. The first time I lean in for a cuddle or jump up on the couch next to you: that's when you know I've chosen you to give my whole heart to.

My foster family says that I'm soft and soulful. I think that means that I love deeply and gently. I’m affectionate and loyal — the kind of dog who will quietly follow you from room to room and curl up close just to be near you. I seek the company of my people and I know exactly how to make their day better. Maybe a gentle kiss to make them smile? A soft nose boop to make them laugh? Or maybe just sitting beside them, leaning into them, and letting them know they're never alone.

Every day I grow a little braver and a little more confident. New things can feel big and scary sometimes, but I find comfort and confidence in my fellow dog friends. That means that I need a family who already has a dog friend for me — a live-in canine companion to show me the ropes and remind me everything is okay when I feel a bit nervous.

While I thrive in calm environments, my playful and energetic side is coming out more and more. I just discovered toys this week and love romping around in the backyard or going for longs walks with my dog friends. Even though I love the more gentle things in life, I'm still your classic lab who loves to explore, loves to play, and loves to run around.

I’m here, learning, growing, and hoping that somewhere out there, my family is looking for me too.

Hopefully yours,

Polly 🐾

If you're looking for a soul dog like Polly, go to www.dibsrescue.com for all adoption and application information.
