Poke's Story

Poke is the sweetest girl who needs a constant in her life. We have a unique history with Poke although we have not seen her in a couple of years. This energetic pup started out life with puppies of her own in a shelter when she was just a young gal herself. She was adopted but then returned & placed into foster. This isn't always a bad thing except it happened another 4 times. Thankfully, she had the same foster to come back to each time. We saw Poke listed on a surrender page and learned that she was placed in a home that was very much mismatched for her. This really was no fault of the adopters or Poke. We're hoping we can change the course of Poke's life and get her into a matched home that can show her what life means when you stick it out for the long haul. She reportedly does great with other cats but needs slow introductions with other dogs to successfully adjust. Poke has worked with our behaviorally educated dog trainer in the past and has both her and our support to get her better. She has challenges with anxiety (understandably so!) but has settled at her foster home well and is being tapered off the medications currently. We will likely send her to a new home with medication to begin with for her initial transition period. No one can blame her for how many times she's gone from home to home. How could she ever know what's going to happen next? Interested in Poke? Let us know: tinyurl.com/ImadoptingatAEL

UPDATE: Poke's foster's are so generous & had a DNA test done for her. See her results in the photos. Our adoption process is simple, relationship-centered, and provides supportive education. You can expect your adoption interest to go like this:
1. Submit your electronic form
2. An AEL representative will contact you to schedule a phone call or adoption counsel session.
3. Come to your adoption counsel session to meet the pet you're interested in and ready to take them home with you (dependent on the pet, some need more than one meet)
4. If the pet is determined to be a good fit with your family by both you and the AEL representative, you will sign your contract, submit your adoption payment, and take your new friend home!

Let us know you're interested here: http://tinyurl.com/AELadoptionsquad
