Pluto's Story

A couple of months ago, we decided that a pound wasn’t any place for a senior pup to have been living for almost a year. We met Pluto at a large municipal pound in CT and we just couldn’t wait to see him in a home. Thankfully a wonderful foster agreed to help, and he’s been loving life there ever since. Now he's all set to find a terrific forever home. If you’d like to make Pluto a family member and live in CT, please go to our website and fill out an application to start the process: https://www.allaboutthedogsrescue.org/get-involved

Pluto is a wonderful dog. He’s about 8 years old (best estimate). He isn’t super high energy, but he has considerable pep. He loves his walks. He’d love a fenced-in yard, but it’s not a “requirement”. His favorite thing is being with his people. He adores toys, and his ball is hands down his favorite.

Pluto is good with other dogs – he’s still learning manners with them so it would be best if he’s with a dog who’s somewhat tolerant of that. He will be fine with children – probably 10 years or older because he’s strong and could topple little ones in his enthusiasm. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but he’s interested in “critters” outside, so kitties are likely a no.

His foster mom has been working with Pluto on his basics. He doesn’t seem to have had a lot of training previously. He’s learning to walk nicely on a leash. He’s learning things like “sit” and “stay”. He is learning to go potty outside – and we expect that process will speed up after he’s neutered. He does need a family who will have patience with him as he settles in and lives and learns with them.

Above all, Pluto just loves to give and receive love. He’s not a huge fan of being crated but he can deal with it as necessary. Best scenario for Pluto would be a home where someone’s there a good part of the day … if you work from home or you’re retired, he’d just adore spending his days with you!

We are total softies for senior dogs. If you are too, please consider giving this awesome gentleman a place on your couch where he can relax and enjoy his retirement!
