PJ's Story

Meet PJ!

PJ is a 10-month-old handsome American Bully with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This sweet, goofy boy is still very much a puppy and loves the simple things in life—snuggles with his people, playing, and soaking up attention wherever he can get it.

PJ does have a bit of a unique journey ahead of him. After experiencing some collapse episodes in the past, PJ was evaluated by a cardiologist and underwent specialized testing. While infectious causes have been ruled out, the doctors believe PJ may have an abnormal heart rhythm related to how his heart’s electrical system functions. At this time, the exact cause and long-term outlook aren’t fully known. The good news is that PJ has not had any recent collapse episodes and has been doing well.

PJ is currently on hyoscyamine three times a day, which helps regulate his heart rhythm, and he’s been doing well on this medication.

Because of his history, PJ will likely need ongoing monitoring with a cardiologist about once a year to keep an eye on his heart. Since he’s still young, we simply don’t know what the future may hold, and adopters should be prepared for the possibility of future medical care.

PJ also has a slight head tilt, from being beat prior to coming to us. The good news is it doesn’t slow him down or affect his happy personality one bit—if anything, it just adds to his charm.

What we do know is that PJ is a loving, resilient boy who deserves a family just as special as he is. He doesn’t let his past or his medical mystery define him and still enjoys being a happy, playful pup.

PJ is housebroken and crate trained. He LOVES other dogs and loves to cuddle and play with his foster siblings.

PJ is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and he’s ready to find a home willing to give him love, stability, and understanding as he grows.

If you’re the kind of person who believes that the most special dogs sometimes need a little extra support, PJ might just be your perfect match.

If you’re interested in PJ please fill out the adoption app on our website www.muttsinarutrescue.com
