Pixie's Story

Hi Friends! My name is Pixie! The shelter team named me that because I'm very cute, but I can be a little sassy sometimes. I'm really a diamond in the woof, I mean rough.

I am approximately 2 years old, I'm vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on my heartworm testing. In a couple of weeks, I'll be getting spayed.

I was brought to the shelter as a stray, and from what everyone can tell, my life before the shelter wasn't so great. I likely didn't have much socialization with other animals, and I wasn't trained on basic manners. The shelter team has helped me come a long way, but I still need to improve in some areas, so I'm hoping to find the right fit for me.

It takes me some time to warm up to new people, so a patient adopter is very important. Additionally, a home with kids would not be best for me as it takes me some time to trust new people, and kids can be a little too forward for my comfort level. I would be a great dog for someone looking for a companion in a quiet home where I can learn to trust and feel comfortable. I will not do well living with another dog or cat, as that is very stressful for me. Eventually after some time, learning that not all touch is bad, and that people aren't all mean, I might warm up to the idea of sharing attention, but for now, it really just needs to be all about me.

If you're interested in taking some time to come and get to know me, stop by the shelter Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm. If you have questions, reach out to the team at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117.I hope I get to meet you soon!
