Piper's Story
Name: Piper
Gender: Female
Breed: Shihpoo
Weight: 11 lbs
Age: Approximately 1-2 years old
Color: White/Cream
Adoption Fee $550

Up to date on vaccinations
Heart worm negative and on preventative
Micro-chipped
Spayed

💛 Meet Piper — Playful, Loyal, and Ready to Learn

Piper is a young Shih‑Poo with all the sparkle and silliness that comes with being about 1–2 years old. She was found as a stray, and her foster family has been helping her learn the rhythms of indoor life. With a consistent routine and a human who’s engaged with her, she does well going outside for potty breaks and is steadily improving.

Piper forms deep bonds with her person—especially her foster dad. Because of that attachment, she can become protective and may growl, lunge, or snap at unfamiliar people who approach him. She will benefit from continued training, structure, and positive socialization to help her feel safe and confident.

This girl loves activity. The dog park is one of her happy places, and she enjoys walks, though she’ll need some additional leash practice. In the evenings, her playful side really shines—she romps with the other foster dogs, chases toys, and her current favorite game is trying to catch her own tail in tiny, enthusiastic circles.

Piper is affectionate, but on her own terms. She’s a companionable little shadow who loves curling up in her dog bed near her foster dad while he works. And when it comes to grooming? She’s a dream. Baths, brushing, the whole spa experience—Piper genuinely enjoys it.

Piper would do best in a home with adults only—either an individual or a couple—who can give her guidance, patience, and continued training. She’d be happy as an only dog or as part of a small, friendly pack.

If you’re looking for a bright, loving young dog with tons of potential and plenty of personality, Piper may be the perfect match.

Adoption Information

Please note: Because of their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5.

If you live in the immediate Austin area and are interested in adopting from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws, please visit http://www.lilpaws.org to fill out an application.

We do not have a physical facility — all of our dogs live in loving foster homes.
Lil’ Paws is a small, all-volunteer organization. To best use our limited time and resources, we are only able to correspond with individuals who have submitted an adoption application from our website.

If you would like to visit with our dogs and their fosters, you might plan to attend our Meet and Greet Events which are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Pet Supplies Plus in Round Rock from noon to 2 p.m. We suggest you check our website for exact dates.

Pet Supplies Plus
17420 Ranch to Market Rd 620 #150
Round Rock, TX 78681

We are only able to adopt our dogs to those living within the immediate Austin area. Our local only adoption requirement is due to the thoroughness of our process, which includes home visits and a trial adoption period to ensure the dog has adjusted well. With our team of volunteers, it is not possible to conduct these steps outside our area. Even if you are willing to travel, we must keep our efforts local to maintain the integrity of our process.

Our mission is to place our dogs in safe, stable, and loving homes within the Austin area. Thank you for understanding and for supporting rescue!
________________________________________
Supporting Lil’ Paws

Lil’ Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws relies on donations to provide the medical care our dogs need before adoption. Every pup receives essential vetting such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and dental care — and many require additional or even major medical treatments.
Your donations make this possible. If you’d like to help us continue rescuing and healing dogs, please visit our website and click the Donate button. We are deeply grateful for your support!
