Piper's Story

Born 03-19-23, Piper is the best girl. This 2 year old cutie weighs in at 12 pounds and is an absolute delight.

Her short fall is that she does have vocal separation anxiety, so she needs someone home most often and she can't be in a home with shared walls. We haven't experienced this in foster care, but her owners did tell us about it. With her foster Mom working from home, there's not a lot of alone time.

Piper is dog and kid friendly. She would love to have a friendly canine companion to hang out with or better yet, an older human kid to spend her time with. She's just really a terrific and friendly girl.

Piper is good in the car. She's also familiar with regular grooms and is tolerant. Not the biggest fan, but tolerant. Her last groom was early March.

There isn't a lot to say about Piper other than she truly is just a really special girl and deserving of an amazing adopter that can love her so completely, as she deserves to be loved.

FROM HER FOSTER:

What can we say, but we have absolutely fallen in love with this sweet happy little girl.

Piper is a dream of a foster dog.

She came to us already potty trained and she knows and responds to common commands like sit, come, lie down (she could teach her foster sister some manners).

She complained a bit about sleeping in her crate for the first few nights but fell into her routine very quickly and not a peep out of her after night 4.

Piper is a social girl and absolutely loves everyone she meets, dogs, men, women, kids (I suspect she’d probably be fine with cats based on her personality).

Her Min Pin foster sister has not been as welcoming as we’d hoped and despite that Piper is not giving up on trying to be friends and introduce play and cuddles and she is starting to win her over slowly. She follows her foster sister around and tries to copy everything she does (as little sisters do). She seems to be fine with accepting her low rank standing in the pecking order.

Piper is a true lap dog and is happiest sitting on your lap or right next to you if she must. She also still has some playful puppy energy and will get the zoomies and want to play (usually after meals and walks) but is satisfied with a short wrestle session and some tug of war or throwing stuffies.

She is not demanding at all and if nobody is free to play, she’ll grab a stuffie and entertain herself. I work from home and she’ll occasionally ask to sit on my lap but is usually satisfied with a 5-minute petting session on my lap and being put back into her bed at my feet.

She is good walking on a leash.

Piper will alert bark at the doorbell, but that is usually following the lead of our Min Pin watchdog.

The only signs of anxiety I’ve seen so far is that she startles very easily at loud noises (a sneeze, a cough, the buzzer on the dryer). She can be timid about things she’s afraid of but does overcome it quickly when encouraged.

She was a little afraid of the stairs at first but she’s got the run of the house now and regularly visits her foster grandmother in the basement suite for pets and cuddles.

She reportedly has separation anxiety and the only signs I’ve seen of this was the odd bark when Grandma goes out after hanging out with her. I reminded her I'm home in my office and that was that.

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting.
