She is a wonderful companion who simply asks for a little time and understanding to show her true, affectionate self.

Her Personality & Progress Piper is healthy, fully vetted, house-trained, and gets along great with other dogs. We have learned that her comfort level depends entirely on the approach. In her previous foster home, she transformed from a skittish girl into a "lap dog" who would follow her humans everywhere and even offer her paw to be held.

Understanding Piper’s Needs:

The "Slow & Steady" Approach: Piper thrives when given space. Her most successful foster experience involved keeping physical handling to a minimum for the first month. Once she feels safe, she becomes incredibly loyal.

Touch & Handling: She can be sensitive to sudden movements. To gain her trust, it’s best to avoid approaching her from behind or above. Lowering your body to her level helps her feel secure.

Lifting/Carrying: Piper is not a fan of having her feet leave the ground! While she can be held, she needs to be held firmly to feel secure, as she tends to tense up when lifted.

Food is the Key: Piper is extremely food-motivated! The sound of a treat bag will have her drooling and is the fastest way to her heart.

TLC During Storms: She is scared of thunder and lightning, so she’ll need a cozy spot and some extra comfort during bad weather.

The Ideal Home Piper needs a patient adopter who understands that "love at first sight" might take a few weeks to turn into "cuddles on the couch." Because she can be mouthy when overwhelmed or startled, a home with experienced owners or older children who can respect her boundaries is preferred.

If you are a patient person looking for a well-mannered, easygoing companion who just needs a chance to trust, Piper is waiting for you!
