Piper's Story

Piper is the kind of dog who doesn't just live in your house-she moves right into your heart (and your personal space... happily). She has recently finished "mom duty" to her last litter of pups and we are excited to help her on her journey to being a cherished member of the family.

She's a sweet, affectionate cuddle-bug who genuinely prefers being close to her person. If you're looking for a constant companion who wants to be on the couch with you, near your feet, or snuggled up in bed, Piper is your girl.

Piper's Best Traits
--Total lovebug: affectionate, gentle, and happiest right next to you
--House-trained: tells you when she needs to go out with "the look" and/or a little whine
--Polite pup: doesn't tear up her toys-stuffies are safe with Piper
--Smart + trainable: knows sit and paw, and she's VERY food-motivated (training gold!)
--Easy walker (with a confidence-building note): doesn't pull on leash

Piper is still learning that the world is safe. On leash, she can be a bit timid, and sudden leash movements may startle her. The good news? She's calm, responsive, and with patient, positive practice, she's likely to build confidence quickly-especially because she's so treat-motivated. She also prefers company when she goes outside-right now, she does best when you're out there with her. Think of it as: she's not "high maintenance," she's social and comfort-seeking. Piper has interacted directly with other dogs since coming to her foster home, but has shown curiosity when meeting another dog through a fence.

Piper's ideal home would be somewhere she can thrive with thrive with someone who wants a true companion. She could be great for a first-time dog owner who wants an easier energy level, for an older owner or calmer household, for anyone who loves couch time and and a dog who loves to be close...Piper seems like such an easygoing and adaptable dog that she could do well in many types of homes. The most important thing she is looking for is a home with lots of patience and love to help her gain confidence and reassure her that the world isn't so big and scary.

Bottom line: Piper is a cuddly, sweet, low-drama best friend who just wants to be included-preferably within arm's reach.
