Pine's Story

Pet Location:
Wayside Waifs Campus - Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me!

My Friends at Wayside say:
- I am enrolled in Waifs with Wisdom. This is a program for dogs to learn basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session.
- I'm a sweet, active boy who loves to play with other dogs.
- I have experience living successfully around cats in my previous home.
- My previous family said that I love car rides!
- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information.

My home needs are:
- No apartments or shared living spaces for me, please!
- I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies.
- If you have kids in the home 9 years old and younger, I will need to meet them to make sure they enjoy my enthusiasm for life!
- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.

Check out my super cool new video! Scroll through my photos to watch it.

Hi there, I’m Pine! I’m playful and silly and so much fun! Once you’re my people, my tail wags in pure joy whenever I am with you. I can’t wait to be your constant companion and best friend. Let’s get together and start making memories. I’m ready!

I’m a handsome, 2-year-old, 55-pound Lab mix, with the prettiest smile, gentle brown eyes, shiny fur, and a big, happy, delightful personality. I was crate trained in my previous home and I was making progress at housebreaking, too. Please stay patient with me as I get settled in, as an adjustment period in a new home is normal. If you keep me on a schedule and get me outside for plenty of breaks, it will help to set me up for success. I first came to Wayside as a wee pup with my whole beautiful life ahead of me. I was quickly adopted, and I’ve had a good life. I know what it means to be a beloved member of a family. Sadly, my family life went through changes, another new baby was on the way, there was just too much going on. I understand, but I still miss them. Lucky for me, I have another chance to find a new family to love. I hope that’s you!

In my previous home, I happily slept in my crate at night, and I successfully lived with men, women, kids, cats, and small dogs. I felt sort of unsure around the 1-year-old. Young kids can be scary at times, what with their loud voices and quick, unpredictable movements. The big shelter felt scary to me when I got here, too. It was loud and lonely, with so many new people to meet. It can be somewhat of an overwhelming feeling for a family dog to end up in a shelter. I hope to find a home where I can have a routine that I can count on and a family that I can feel comfortable and relaxed with.

I’m such a fun and silly character! I’ll sit quietly for hours as you lovingly scratch my neck as I lean in as close as possible to you for maximum affection. That’s the way to my heart. I hope you will invite me up on the couch, so that I can curl up next to you for snuggles every day. I love playing with all of my toys, too. And I never turn down a delicious treat, which I promise to take gently from your hand. I’m happy to come when I’m called. I’m just such a great dog and a wonderful friend who simply wants to be by your side. I will thrive in a positive, calm environment with plenty of praise when I’m a good boy.

I’m young, active, and athletic, so I will need daily exercise to help keep me looking and feeling my best. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I like going for walks, too. I use a harness to help me stay focused and by your side. I’ve enjoyed participating in doggie playgroups here at Wayside. It takes me a little extra time to warm up and feel comfortable around other dogs, but once I get acclimated, I play well with polite dogs who will give me space when I need it. If you have other dogs, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure that we’re a great match. Wayside recommends that I meet any kids under 10 as well. Hopefully we’ll all be comfortable with each other from the start. I can’t live in an apartment setting. I just need the peace, familiarity, and predictability of a house where I won’t be constantly running into strange people and dogs.

Mostly, I’m simply looking for a home and family with kind people who enjoy spending time with me. I want to be an important part of your life, and I want to feel comfortable just being my goofy self. I know what it means to love you unconditionally. And I know what being part of a family is all about. Let me share my happy zest for life with you. Let me show you how special you are. That’s what I do best.

Love, Pine
