Pilar (Now HOPE)'s Story

******************************************************
THE BLEEDING HEART SOCIETY
"Never forgetting the Forgotten"
******************************************************

PUP: PILAR
"She's a lady, and very easy going."

AGE: Approximately 2 years old
WEIGHT: about 56 lbs

1- FRIENDLY? WITH DOGS? CATS? KIDS?
Pilar is dog-friendly and seems to be cat-neutral (she gives no notice to an old decrepit cat which hangs outside and could be easy prey). With regards to kiddos, while she has had limited exposure/experience with them, she seems to take very well to them.

2- ENERGY LEVEL? ATHLETIC?
We'd rate Miss Pilar a 5 or 6 in terms of energy (on a 1-10 scale), and a 6 or 7 on playfulness. She is fairly well balanced in her energy, and not a rough player.

3- COUCH POTATO?
This sweet girl has never had an opportunity to be on a couch, however if she had an opportunity, you'd want to make sure you claim your side from the start!

4- AFFECTIONATE?
Pilar loves hugs, and being pet. She's a little timid initially, and must warm up to you.. Once you show her affection, she responds well to it, and once she's comfortable… she's comfortable!

5- GENTLE? LOYAL?
She is gentle with treats. She doesn't paw or jump, and walks casually by your side. She may tap you gently for attention. Her play is gentle and once loyalty is there, it is always there..

6- SMART?
Yes, Pilar is a very smart girl. She knows SIT & STAY on command, and could learn more. Being in boarding though, she hasn't had anyone to engage with her.

7- WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT HER?
She's a lady, has an innate sense of etiquette and manners. She's not much of a barker, and is generally quiet.

8- WHAT DOES SHE LIKE?
Pilar is an easy-going gal, and is just happy to be with you. She is independent enough also to be ok alone. Of course, she prefers to be around those she loves, (and those who also love her).

9- WHAT MAKES HER UNIQUE?
She's funny when she talks to you, and she also does this little dance/prance when she is excited. She literally does her own version of the cha-cha-cha when you've got a hotdog for her.

10- HOUSE-TRAINED? CRATE-TRAINED?
She is crate-trained, and if she is not house-trained, we suspect she would learn quickly. She is currently In a 5x10 kennel, and keeps her area clean. She's a very clean girl.

11- STORM Or SEPARATION ANXIETY? BEHAVIORAL ISSUES?
None.

12- HOW DOES SHE WALK ON LEASH?
She walks fairly well on a leash.

13- HOW IS SHE IN THE CAR?
She is relaxed in the car.

14- WHAT AREAS COULD SHE IMPROVE UPON?
Once she finds herself established in her own home, with her own family, her sense of security will just make an already good girl, better.

15- HISTORY?
She was a street dog in an undesirable part of town. During one of Houston's floods/storms, her puppies found themselves submerged in water and somehow came back to life. A rescue took her puppies, and abandoned her.

16- ANY POSSIBLE HEALTH CONCERNS?
None.

17- IDEAL HOME/IDEAL LIFE?
We would love for her to be secured in love. She would love long walks, and likes new adventures. She can be very curious and would enjoy smelling new smells. Would be happy hanging out at home, or going out to see what's going on in the world.

18- WHAT IS THE BLEEDING HEART SOCIETY?
The Bleeding Heart Society refers to the dogs who were not just abandoned by their people, but also by the rescues who promised to save them. Many of them have been abandoned for years (and some their entire lives), in boarding facilities without anyone to advocate for them. THESE DOGS ARE JUST AS ADOPTABLE AS THE PUPS WE HAVE HAVE IN FOSTER HOMES. In most cases they were NOT abandoned because of behavioral or health issues. They are wonderful dogs who have simply been forgotten. These pups are living a life sentence they do not deserve. They are merely existing day in and day out with very limited freedom, joy or companionship.

In an effort for our hearts to bleed no more, we are initiating a separate effort to promote these specific pups to those who would like to join us on this mission of restoring their destiny to be in a stable home, to live a life worth living, and to love people worth loving.

Only a select number of our dogs are classified under THE BLEEDING HEART SOCIETY. If you would like to see who else falls under this category, please send us an inquiry or email to see who all is currently available. Again, The Bleeding Heart Society only refers to the abandoned environment & conditions the dog has been left in. While the scenario is not desirable, these pups certainly are both loveable and adoptable.

19- HOW CAN I ADOPT THIS PUP?
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADOPT PILAR, AND LOVE HER FOREVER, PLEASE COMPLETE AN APPLICATION PER THE LINK BELOW:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJubAHJr4oIe4NkDxnhfBPM1jVRO2s4S0xIjrHVlElAMQWJA/viewform

***********************************************************
PILAR is currently located in Kerrville, TX, and is available for transport to your area. The cost of transport is already included in the $850 adoption fee.
