Pie's Story

COURTESY POST: This dog is not currently with Stumptown Strays. She is in need of a new home and here is what her person says about her:

"Meet Pie, a 1.75 year old 90 pound German Shepherd mix looking for her (human) other half. Pie is human-esque, bright, loyal, affectionate, and TRULY a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog. Her Portland-based cult following says it all. Charisma MACHINE.

Pie first came to Portland after being hit by a car and having a plate installed in her leg. Despite the medical trauma, she LOVES the vet. Appointment times do not apply to Pie; she would prefer to be waved straight into the back to hang out with her pals.

I mention this specifically because it tells you everything about the kind of dog Pie is; resilient and determined to enjoy life, no matter the odds.

We adopted Pie six months ago and have gotten to see her blossom. The joy she exudes is unmatched. She is, quite literally, the smartest dog we have ever met. Soon, she will be able to search things out using her nose! She loves to participate in everything you do, whether that be baking, putting away groceries, or gardening. She does great in a car, can walk on a leash, and with a bit of training, she will be the dog you can take with you on any adventure. When life gets loud, Pie will often request alone time and wants us to put on her favorite show, Bob’s Burgers (her favorite character is Louise if that tells you anything about her).

As much as we love her, Pie has decided that it’s time to find a home where she is the only pet. She loves to play with other dogs, but it seems like they’re not ideal housemates for her.

Pie is looking for her other half. She doesn’t need perfection in a home, she just needs her person. A Bob's Burgers loving, semi-active human who will love her back with the same intensity she would love you with."

If you are interested in meeting Pie, please either send us a message through PetFinder or email info@stumptownstrays.org! There is no adoption fee for Pie. Due to her injury, Pie does need to stay on chronic pain medication and she does best while also on Prozac for her anxiety.
