Pico's Story
Pico has been with us for a few months, and from the very beginning it was clear he needed something different. When he first entered rescue, he was so timid and undersocialized that we knew it wouldn’t be fair—or safe—to rush him into adoption without truly understanding what kind of home he needed to thrive.

So here’s our honest pitch:

Are you looking for a dog who’s basically a cat? Low-key. Quiet. Independent. Loves to sunbathe, lounge, and mind his own business? Meet Pico.

Pico came from a hoarding situation and was terrified of people when he arrived. On his very first day in foster care, one small mistake—letting him off leash in the backyard—turned into a full-blown mission involving multiple people trying to coax him back inside. That’s how scared he was.

Since then, we’ve put in the work. Day after day, we’ve earned Pico’s trust and shown him that humans aren’t scary, that hands can be gentle, and that he is safe and loved. And slowly—but surely—he’s blossomed.

Pico’s ideal home is a calm one. He would do best without small children, though he’s been around kids and does fine with older children who understand boundaries. He’s dog- and cat-friendly, would love a human who’s home more often than not, and does okay-ish on a leash (we’re working on it).

But above all else, Pico needs patience.

This is not a dog who will run up to you on day one, tail wagging, demanding affection. If that’s what you’re looking for, Pico isn’t your guy. You will need to earn his trust. We don’t know what his life was like before rescue—we only know how far he’s come since. And once he trusts you? It’s magic. He seeks you out. He gives kisses. He asks to be held. He’s incredibly, quietly sweet.

Pico is approximately 2 years old, weighs about 15 pounds, and is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.

Fostered in Gwinnett County, GA
