Pickle Pete's Story
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Pickle Pete. He is one of 7 puppies, born to Mommy Angel on January 19th. This is National Popcorn Day so they have all been named after popcorn flavours. They are yellow lab mixes. They will have short/medium hair coats when fully grown. We do not expect them to reach more than 45-50 lbs. There are 4 girls and 3 boys in the litter.

Mommy Angel came to us as a pregnant stray, an owner surrender. She was a fabulous Mom, and it was obvious to our trained eyes, that this was not her first litter. All the pups look identical, and we can only tell them apart by their microchips.

Pickle Pete had matured into a long and lanky boy. He has long legs with a slim build. He is slightly smaller than his brother Chester. Pete continues to be food motivated. This entire litter has a prey drive, due to the hound mix within them. Pete can be bossy with other dogs, of both sexes so would be easier if he was the only dog in the home. He definitely is food motivated. He will be easily trained used food as his motivator. Pete can be stubborn so it is important that the family ensure he has boundaries. He loves to get and give back attention and never lets his family out of his sight.

The ideal home for Pete is one where he is the only dog. He is fairly high energy so lots of outdoor time and exercise is key. He still loves and is stimulated with many types of toys. He is a climber so should be crated when the family members are out at this stage. .

On March 15, they had their first set of vaccines, including Bordetella, and were microchipped. Pickle Pete weighed 4.4 kg.

UPDATE: On April 26, he received his second set of vaccines including Lepto and Lyme. He weighed 11.8 kg.

UPDATE: On May 21 he received his final set of vaccines. He weighed 16.8 kg.

Pete will be neutered before the adoption is finalized.

We thank Steven from https://www.steventaylor.ca/ for these wonderful photos.

Visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application.
