Phoenix's Story
??? Meet Phoenix, your newest partner in crime.???

This sweet boy is a buff toddler with no concept of personal space. You think you're adopting a dog, but nope, you're adopting a big cuddle missile who wants to lay on your lap every time you sit down and is very much a Velcro dog.

He's built like a tank but acts like a goofball. Phoenix would do best with older kiddos, as he forgets his size and thinks body slams are a love language. Then give you the best puppy dog eyes if you leave the room for 3 seconds without him. Phoenix did well with the female next to him at the kennel, but a meet and greet with any potential fur-siblings is always on the agenda. He is currently in a home with cats, but he has started chasing them. The trainer believes it is movement based prey drive-when they run, he runs after. But he is easily redirected by his foster mom and we believe he could be trained not to chase.

He's goofy and loyal and will defend your yard from every single butterfly and grasshopper, like a furry security detail. Phoenix is a wonderful dog who has been through a lot but is now starting to thrive in his new environment with his foster nanny. He was struggling to gain weight in the kennel, and with her love and attention (and some good noms), he’s becoming a cute little chunky monk.

It's heartwarming to say that he is adapting well to his new routine, especially with potty training and crate training. He does have separation anxiety, but it is understandable given his past, but it's great that he willingly enters his crate. He will need time and understanding after being starved and left behind in a room for 3 weeks. He does use a slow feeder and his foster mom has lovingly been adding higher protein foods to help him put on some weight.

Phoenix is your next cuddle buddy. Here’s what his foster family had to say about his snuggly personality:
“A description of his snuggles and snores: a lovely touch, soothing, unconditional love, highlighting the bond he's willing to form with his new family.”

Phoenix has a gentle and loving spirit, and with time, he will continue to flourish in a safe and caring environment. Phoenix truly deserves all the love and comfort he can get! His foster mom helped us write this up as she loves our brown eyed boy and wants to help find his furever family.
