PETER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Peter and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (3/22) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!

Name: Peter Best Guess for Breed: Retriever and hound mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of January 2026 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 35 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! He also lived with a two year old child while in foster care in Puerto Rico. We haven't seen him with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Because Peter is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think he would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Peter is Looking For: Peter is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. He's eager to get his own humans in the DC area - he's a young boy and has so much to see and do. Long sniffy walks, romps with pup pals, and all the adventures his new family can dream up - yes, please! Dog school would be great, too, so he can show how super smart he is.

Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and under his own roof for all his days. In exchange, he promises to always put a smile on your face - and to give so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Peter the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Peter is coming along well! He loves other dogs and loves to play and has finally started approaching people. He asks for affection and has become quite the cuddle bug. He is working on potty training and is doing quite well. He enjoys his walks in the neighborhood but is still adjusting to busy roads with lots of noise and traffic. He does well in his crate and he also can be trusted in the family, only playing with dog toys (no shoes or cords have been harmed). He is a sweet shy boy just waiting for a sibling to keep showing him the ropes.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
