Pete **Community Post**'s Story

**Community post—this is not an FCHS dog**

Petey is a friendly, affectionate seven-year-old pit bull–husky mix who has been with his family since he was a puppy. He’s grown up around family dogs and does well with them, but he does best with slow, careful introductions to any new dogs. With people, Petey is loving and welcoming, and he’s comfortable meeting new faces.

Petey is a strong, energetic dog who enjoys being active, though he does tend to pull on the leash and would benefit from continued work on his walking manners. He has attended training in the past and responds well when given consistent, one-on-one attention and guidance.

Petey is being rehomed due to a changing family situation, and his owners would love to see him settled in a new home where he can get the time, structure, and companionship he thrives on.

Petey is a loyal, caring companion who bonds closely with his people and would do best with someone ready to give him patience, attention, and a place to call home for good. 🐾

To meet Pete, call Micah at 540-320-7804.

---

**This is a courtesy post. Floyd County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
The Floyd County Humane Society reserves the right to deny any application on a companion animal for any reason. The applicant will always be informed as to why they were denied. Denying an application is not a personal attack on the applicant, in many cases, the denial is because we, at the Humane Society, do not feel that the animal and family will be a good match. This does not mean that the applicant would certainly be denied in the future. Some of the reasons the applicant may be denied: bad vet or personal references, lying on the application, refusing a home check, past history of returning/rehoming animals, or inadequate supervision. In some cases, we receive two applications on the same animal. In this case, it is up to the discretion of the Humane Society to decide which family would be the best fit for the animal. The Floyd County Humane Society is staffed solely by volunteers. The application process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how soon references can be reached and if there are any concerns about the application. Unfortunately, some applications are denied, but it is done in the best interest of the animal. If there are any questions or concerns as to why an application was denied, the applicant can reach out to the contact person or email the Society.
