Perla's Story

Perla is a two to three year old no shed mix. She weighs 10 lbs. Breeds we think she could be include poodle, havanese, and schnauzer. She was confiscated from a hoarding, neglect, cruelty situation along with other dogs. Her fur was a matted mess. The shelter gave her anesthesia to shave off the mats and I did the best I could to even out her very short coat. She is silkie soft and not difficult to groom. She will be even cuter when she grows a little more fluff. She was pretty traumatized and shy, especially of men, but is becoming more confident every day. My husband is making great progress winning her over. When she first arrived here I couldn't get her to come inside. Now she always wants to be where I am. She's either in my lap or in the dog bed under the table where I work. She was instantly comfortable with a visiting ten year old child. She likes other dogs, but sometimes needs to be encouraged to share a lap. She's becoming playful and likes to toss around fabric dog toys. She will need some leash training. She is crate trained for overnight and is doing very well with daytime house breaking. A new family needs to be committed to finishing that up. If you think you are the right home for Perla, please submit an application at 1luckydogrescue.org. Please note, if you don't receive a response in a couple of days please assume Perla has found her forever home.
