Pepper's Story
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO MEET OUR PETS.

Pepper is a darling 2 and a half year old, 30 pound pup who was surrendered by her owner when she realized she could not take proper care of her dogs. She has long, lower shedding fur that will need regular grooming. (We included the initial photos from her original home to show her in her untrimmed coat) We have no idea what her actual breed mix is.

Everything is very new to Pepper since she lived her prior life in a dog lot. She is usually scared at first but gets used to new things quickly and is really appreciating her new life in a loving foster home.

She has a lovely personality and never growls or snaps no matter what, is tolerant with bathing, nail trims, mats being cut off and eye drops.

She is so sweet, loves her people, and is affectionate but not clingy.

As she has gotten more comfy in her foster home, she is starting to carry toys around. She is a playful girl but not hyper at all, more of an easy going personality.

She is doing well with house training though still need some supervision and monitoring to be sure she goes potty while outside. She can hold it a long time.

Pepper has dry eye in one eye which is improving with oil based lubricating drops. Not sure of long term prognosis yet since she did not get medical care for it in her prior home. The poor eye was matted shut with crusted fur when she came into rescue and irritated so that she held it closed a lot of the time. With the lubricating drops, she is now much more comfy keeping it open. The other eye seems to be fine.

Pepper loves her crate and goes to it for daytime naps. Her new family should provide her with a comfy crate, bed and blankets since she really enjoys having her very own space.

Pepper would probably do best in home with another dog to show her the ropes and give her confidence.

A companion dog is not required but fenced yard and experienced dog owner are since Pepper is still learning all about the big world outside of her dog lot.

Her foster mom is working on leash training and Pepper is doing well.

Adoption donation $350.

Please note that we do not ship animals. We also require a home visit before finalizing any adoptions so preference is given to applicants within a 90 mile range. You will be required to come to High Point, NC to meet/pick up your new pet.
