Pepper's Story

Pepper / F / 2Y / 57lbs / Beagle Collie mix / Fostered in Meaford

Pepper is the rare dog who knows how to read the room. Feeling cozy? She's cuddled up right next to you. Ready to play? She's already got the squeaky toy. She brings a perfect balance of calm and energy wherever she goes — snuggling in bed with you at night (right up until lights out, when she politely relocates to the floor for her uninterrupted beauty sleep 😂), then zooming at full speed the next morning like the queen she is.

She lives for belly rubs, being close to her people, squeaky toys, a good game of catch or tug-of-war, and chasing her dog friends around. Outside, she's in her element — nose to the ground exploring every corner, racing as fast as her legs will carry her, or simply sitting peacefully watching birds and squirrels in the trees. A true nature girl. 🌿🐿️ But because her nose is so busy - no off leashing for this gal!

She's crate trained, has excellent leash manners, and is not reactive on walks. She's actively working on potty training and has made impressive progress already — she's a quick learner. She's calm and quiet in the car, friendly and excited when meeting new people, and has no separation anxiety or guarding behaviours. She shares toys and treats without a second thought.

One important thing to keep in mind: Pepper is a sensitive soul. A firm "no" can send her cowering, so she'll thrive best in a patient, gentle, positive reinforcement home. She's already blossoming with consistency and trust — she just needs someone to keep building on that foundation. 💛

Pepper's ideal home is one where she'll get plenty of love and attention, a yard to explore or regular outdoor adventures, and people who will appreciate just how special she really is. She would love another dog companion in the home to play with, she lived with cats previously and would be fine with kids 8+.

If you are interested in adopting Pepper, please complete an adoption application on our website.
