MEET PEPITO
While all our pups at the Dog House are precious to us, every once in a while one comes along that, for whatever reason, tugs at our heartstrings more than others and quickly becomes everyone’s favorite. Pepito is one of those babies.
Pepito is an approximately 8-month-old Golden Retriever mix, with a stunningly beautiful reddish caramel medium coat, lively brown eyes, and the most intriguing black spots on his tongue. He currently weighs about 32 pounds and is a medium-large sized dog, but we are working on putting some weight on him, and he may grow a bit more. However, it’s not just his handsome appearance that captivates everyone who meets him…it’s something in his gorgeously smiling face and the joy that radiates out from his perpetual open-mouthed grin…it’s like he is grateful to be among those who love him and is determined to embrace whatever circumstance he finds himself in.
Pepito was pulled from our local animal shelter when no one came to claim him after he had been there for several weeks. Pepito is smart, has a sweet, loving personality, a gentle spirit, is friendly, and wants nothing more than to be with you! While Pepito loves to roam around the yard, he is way more interested in interacting with people…he just wants desperately to be loved on. He would probably get along well with another dog whose play style is similar to his - more gentle and dainty, than rough and tumble. However, Pepito would do best in a home without cats. His sweet temperament and friendly disposition make him a wonderful choice for any family!
Pepito has a nice energy level, which will make him a wonderful family pet, and he should be great with children, but maybe not younger ones that might get knocked over by his size. He likes to spend time exploring outside, but Pepito is not to be an outside dog only as he wants to be with people more than anything else. He will need a fenced-in yard if left outside unattended at all. Pepito would do well in an apartment setting provided there will be lots of outside exercise incorporated into his daily activities. He did fine with the other dogs he has been tested with so far. We have started Pepito’s crate training, and he is up to date on his vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and has been neutered. H is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
