Pepette $99 ADOPTION FEE's Story

Pepette, estimated to be 12 years old, arrived to Mattie's Place from a Canadian shelter after being found as a stray. Sadly, nobody came looking for this perfect senior girl.

Due to her age/medical requirement the shelter opted to euthanize November 21st and we sure weren't going to let that happen to this great dog.

Pepette is a senior gal, so she does have some senior dog eyes; Nuclear sclerosis (lens aging) + iris degeneration + opacity of the lens (probable cataract). She's not requiring any medication at this time, but presumably will need some lubrication or drops down the road to maintain them.

She had a foul mouth, so she had a dental completed with some teeth extractions and the remaining teeth (not too many) were polished & cleaned up well.

She also had a spay completed. The shelter thought she had a mammary mass, but it was explored further at her spay and that was an incorrect diagnosis.

She also has a grade 1 heart murmur. No medication or treatment needed. Very typical for a senior dog.

Pepette's did get into the cat's food in her foster home and had a few days of loose stool which resolved quickly but she is a chihuahua and will eat food if it's left out and available to her.

She also arrived from the shelter with kennel cough and was treated accordingly and it cleared up quickly with some medicated support.

Pepette, now that she's fully up to date medically is feeling GREAT and is very much a puppy in her day to day life and just a lovely dog through and through.

She does amazing with everyone she meets and is dog and cat tested being a bestie to all.

Because she's so small, only 7 pounds, I won't place her in a home with toddler / young kids or dogs over 20 pounds. She's just too fragile and breakable with any mishaps. Can she be around visiting kids and larger dogs? Yes. Should she live with them, no.

Pepette loves, loves, loves being with her people. Though she isn't exhibiting any separation anxiety, a home where a human is there most often or a take-your-dog-to- work scenario would be best for Pepette to keep her heart happiest.

Pepette was a favourite in her shelter and she is a favourite at Mattie's Place. She's deserving of an amazing adopter that will shower her with love and devotion for many years to come, keeping in mind, chihuahua's can live up to 20 years old.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Professional Snuggler

Don’t let her tiny size or age fool you—this girl is pure sunshine wrapped in fur. She’s the sweetest little baby who lives for cuddles, belly rubs, and being as close to her humans as possible. If you sit down, she’ll happily claim your lap like she’s been waiting her whole life for that exact moment.

When it’s playtime, she suddenly turns into the world’s smallest soccer star—zooming around and batting toys with surprising enthusiasm. She gets along beautifully with everyone she meets, including other dogs and cats. She knows she’s a princess, carries herself like one, and occasionally lets out a little sass just to remind you who’s in charge (but only in the cutest way).

She may be around 12, but she’s youthful, affectionate, and full of heart. She's a loving companion who will warm your lap, brighten your days, and rule your home with gentle royal charm.
------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
