Pepe's Story

Pepe is a beautiful 9-month-old boy with a sweet, gentle temperament and a playful puppy personality. At around 35 lbs now and expected to be approximately 50 lbs full grown, he is growing into a wonderful medium-sized companion.

Pepe is affectionate, curious, playful, and enjoys being around both people and other dogs. He loves spending time with his canine friends, exploring, playing, and discovering everything around him. He has all the fun and silliness you would expect from a young dog, along with a sensitive side that makes him incredibly endearing.

Pepes life did not have an easy beginning.

He and his siblings, including Bongo and Bimba, were found as tiny puppies, abandoned in the garbage and left completely helpless. Thankfully, a kindhearted person walking his dog discovered the litter and immediately contacted our rescue partner, SOS El Arca Animal Rescue, for help.

The puppies were brought to safety and received veterinary care, nutritious puppy food, shelter, and the opportunity to grow up surrounded by people who cared about them.

Those tiny, discarded puppies are now beautiful young dogs.

Pepe has come such a long way, but there is something he is still waiting for — a home of his own.

Because Pepe has spent much of his puppyhood growing up in a rescue environment rather than a home, there are many parts of everyday family life he has yet to experience. His adopter should be prepared to continue his training, socialization, and confidence building with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

The world outside the shelter will bring many new experiences — neighborhood walks, household sounds, unfamiliar people, new places, car rides, routines, and all the little things that dogs raised in homes learn along the way.

Pepe needs someone who understands that he wont know everything from day one. He needs a person willing to show him, gently and patiently, that the world is a safe place and that he can look to his family for guidance.

At only 9 months old, Pepe is at a wonderful age to learn. With positive experiences, structure, exercise, training, and lots of encouragement, he has every opportunity to grow into a confident and wonderful companion.

His potty training has already begun and will need to be continued in his new home. Crate training and a predictable daily routine will also help make his transition easier and set him up for success.

Pepe gets along very well with other dogs and enjoys playing with his canine friends. A friendly, confident resident dog could be a wonderful companion and role model for him, although with the right person, Pepe can also flourish as a solo dog.

Pepe is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

He has the opportunity to travel to New York, but before he can make that journey, he needs a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home waiting for him.

Pepe doesnt need someone looking for a perfectly trained dog. He needs someone looking for a young dog they can teach, guide, and grow alongside.

There may be puppy mischief. There will be things to learn. There will be new experiences that require patience and reassurance.

But there will also be tail wags, adventures, laughter, milestones, companionship, and the incredible experience of watching a young rescue dog realize that he finally belongs somewhere.

He deserves the chance to leave his difficult beginning behind and spend the rest of his life knowing what it means to be loved, wanted, and truly chosen.

If you are ready to welcome a young dog into your life and give him the time, training, patience, and love he deserves, Pepe may be the boy youve been waiting for.

To adopt or foster-to-adopt Pepe, please apply at sosanimalwelfare.org or email sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com with any questions.

If we believe that we have the right match, we call their references and arrange the meet&greet. Afterwards, we do home visit to see home settings in person. If both sides, the adopters and our rescue, agrees on the adoption, the adopters sign the adoption contract and pay adoption fee.
